The SXSW Interactive Awards competition uncovers the best new digital work, from mobile and tablet apps to websites and installations, while celebrating those who are building tomorrow's interactive trends. Founded in 1997, this competition was initially known as the SXSW Web Awards.
Discover the competition that grants industry exposure, tech-related prize packages, bragging rights and acclaim from fellow trend-setting developers at the SXSW Interactive Awards Ceremony in March. In addition to honoring the winners of the 2013 Interactive Awards, this ceremony celebrates the 2013 SXSW Interactive Festival Hall of Fame inductee. In January, finalists in the 2013 SXSW Interactive Awards were announced.
The Austin Steamers to Play SXSW Interactive Awards Ceremony Pre-Party
SXSW Interactive has been fortunate to have some great musical acts perform as a part of the SXSW Interactive Awards Ceremony. From The Lennings to MC Frontalot to The Gregory Brothers, excellent music is a major part of the show. 2013 is no different as The Austin Steamers will play the SXSW Interactive Awards Ceremony Pre-Party. The Austin Steamers is a star-studded group of Texas gentlemen that know their way around the strings and compliment their sound with soulful harmonies. The band formed in December 2011 and has been doing a Friday night residency at Austin's very own White Horse Honky Tonk ever since. The Austin Steamers will play the Interactive Awards Ceremony Pre-Party, kicking off at 6:00pm in the Austin Grand Ballroom on the sixth floor of the Hilton Austin Downtown.
SXSW Interactive Awards Ceremony
The 16th Annual SXSW Interactive Awards Ceremony will be emceed by comedian Aisha Tyler, voice of Lana on the FX series Archer and host of CBS show The Talk and the Girl on Guy podcast. The Interactive Awards Ceremony will be full of food, drinks and entertainment. It is open to all SXSW Interactive, Gold and Platinum registrants.

SXSW Interactive Hall of Fame
danah boyd by Brooke NiparFor 2013, we are pleased to welcome danah boyd as the second member of the SXSW Interactive Hall of Fame. boyd is a Senior Researcher at Microsoft Research, a Research Assistant Professor in Media, Culture, and Communication at New York University, a Fellow at Harvard's Berkman Center for Internet and Society, a Research Fellow of the Born This Way Foundation, and an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of New South Wales. boyd will be inducted into the SXSW Interactive Hall of Fame during the SXSW Interactive Awards Ceremony.
